Standardizing Survey Methods

Grant Amount $48,159
Duration 1 year

Standardizing Survey Methods

Endangered Wildlife Trust were granted to convene the lion conservation and science community to create a set of guidelines for managers for the surveying of lions and their prey. At present there is a great deal of discord within the scientific community regarding survey methods, with the effect that the validity of surveys is often questioned, surveys are often not comparable and there is lack of clarity among managers as to which methods should be employed to count lions and their prey. The idea is to bring the key experts together to develop guidelines that provide clear advice to managers on the best methods to use to count lions and their prey under different circumstances.
