New Study Shows De-Snaring of Lions Promotes Long-Term Growth
A recent study from the Zambian Carnivore Programme, an LRF grantee, determined that removing bushmeat snares from injured lions not only provides clear benefits to the individual animal, but also provides benefits to the larger lion population. Bushmeat poaching poses one of the greatest threats to lions by depleting lion prey species and leading to accidental deaths and severe injuries to the lions themselves.
