Promoting Lion Recovery in the Zambezi Delta of Mozambique
In 2021, LRF issued a grant to MWA designed to support the management of concession land within the vast Zambezi Delta complex of protected areas. This is an area where lions were reintroduced in 2018 and are increasing rapidly in number. LRF support will help increase the area of land under effective management and thus help expedite recovery. There is exceptional recovery potential in this landscape, due to the very high and increasing densities of prey animals that occur there.
