Capacity Building in Upemba National Park

Duration 1 year

Capacity Building in Upemba National Park

Lions were presumed extinct in Upemba, but recently Forgotten Parks Foundation have reported sightings, hearing lions and seeing spoor. LRF issued FPF a grant to develop the capacity of a key ranger for ecological monitoring – by paying for an exchange program with Lion Landscapes in Tanzania. In addition, our funding will be used to purchase camera traps with which to prove the presence of lions in the park. It is hoped that this proof, if forthcoming, will help attract further funding and interest in the park.
