Assessment of Current Threats to Lions in Waza NP

Grantee Leo Foundation
Type Conservation Planning
Grant Amount $9,500
Duration 6 months

An Assessment of Current Threats to the Lion Population in Waza National Park

There have been reports in recent months of major human pressures on Waza National Park in Cameroon, posing existential threats for the lion population that occurs there. Through the Leo Foundation, the LRF has invested a small grant to support a mission by a team of Cameroonian nationals to undertake a status assessment of wildlife populations and of threats affecting the park. This report will then be used to work with the government to develop solutions that will help protect the park before it is lost.
