Implementing SMART Law Enforcement Monitoring
SMART law enforcement monitoring is a valuable tool to help protected area managers manage their anti-poaching rangers. SMART allows for easy detection of poaching hotspots and of anti-poaching effort and for rapid reporting. Panthera and North Carolina Zoo have a major regional SMART-training program. They are already assisting 6 LRF grantees with SMART training. This grant will help them provide training to a further 3 of LRF’s recent grantees in Zimbabwe and Zambia. A follow up grant was issued in late 2020 to allow continuation of SMART training and to expand the training to include a 7th grantee.
